Sharing a Position
Turn any position into a shareable link — board plus analysis, or a quiz that hides the answer — in BackgammonDB or XGID format.
Any position in a review can become a link you hand to someone else. Open the share sheet from the share icon in the candidate strip. The recipient opens the link on the /share screen and gets the position on a real, interactive board — no account or import needed.
Format
- BackgammonDB — a compact, URL-safe payload that carries the position and the full analysis: the candidate moves, their equities, and win percentages. The recipient sees everything you see.
- XGID — the position only, in the standard XGID string that eXtreme Gammon and other tools understand. No analysis travels with it.
Mode
For BackgammonDB links on a scored decision you can choose:
- Review — show the board and the full analysis (the default).
- Quiz — hide the analysis and ask the viewer to find the best move first, then reveal it. Great for setting a friend a problem.
Trimming the link
A BackgammonDB checker-move link can carry all candidates or just the top 3 / 5 / 8, to keep the URL short and to narrow the scope of the quiz question. The share sheet shows the finished link with a Copy button.
What the recipient can do
The /share screen has the same board controls as review — display modes, board perspective, and candidate previews. What it doesn't have is your library: there's no saving or annotating unless the viewer explicitly adds the position to their own database.
